Cookie notice

What this site stores in your browser, what each thing does, and how to change your choice.

Last updated 6 September 2026

01Your choice

When you first visit, a bar at the bottom of the page asks whether we may set analytics and advertising cookies. Nothing non-essential is set until you choose. Pick Essential only and the site works exactly the same; we just cannot see which pages or adverts are working.

To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser (see below) and the bar will ask again on your next visit.

02What's stored

NameTypePurposeExpires
cogent.bag.v1 Local storage, essential Remembers what's in your bag as you move between pages Until cleared
cogent.consent.v1 Local storage, essential Records the choice you made on the cookie bar Until cleared
cogent.pop.v1 Local storage, essential Stops the welcome offer showing again once you have seen it Until cleared
_ga, _ga_* Cookie, analytics (consent) Google Analytics: counts visits and which pages are read, without identifying you Up to 2 years
_gcl_* Cookie, advertising (consent) Google Ads: records whether a click on one of our adverts led to an order 90 days

Essential items are needed for the shop to work and do not need consent, but they do have to be disclosed, which is what this page is for. They hold product codes, prices, quantities and your cookie choice. They contain nothing that identifies you.

03Third parties

Google Tag Manager loads on every page and is the container through which analytics and advertising tags are set. It sets no cookies of its own. The tags inside it only set cookies once you have accepted them; until then they run in a consent-less mode that sends no identifiers.

Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Your browser requests them from Google's servers, so your IP address is visible to Google as part of that request.

Stripe runs the checkout and the Apple Pay and Google Pay buttons. Stripe sets its own strictly necessary cookies for fraud prevention when you pay.

04How to remove it

Clearing your browsing data for this site removes everything above. Every major browser offers this under privacy or history settings, and you can restrict storage per-site if you want finer control.

Be aware that clearing it empties your bag, since the bag is one of the stored items.

For more on your rights over personal data generally, see the privacy notice.
