Semax dosage: how much, when, and how long it lasts

01The short version

One spray per nostril, 20 to 30 minutes before focused work, once a day. Never more than four sprays in 24 hours. That is the FOCUS-01 label, and it is deliberately conservative relative to the research.

Below: what doses the studies used, how a metered spray relates to them, how long it takes to work, how long it lasts, and how to store it.

02What the studies used

The human study that most of the attention and memory evidence rests on gave healthy volunteers 0.25 to 1 mg (250 to 1,000 micrograms) of Semax intranasally, once, and measured performance across an eight-hour shift. Attention and short-term memory improved, and the effect on work efficiency lasted 20 to 24 hours [1].

Two things follow from that. First, the effective range in people is measured in fractions of a milligram, not in the multi-gram doses typical of supplements. Second, a single morning dose covered a full working day and then some. There is no evidence that redosing every few hours adds anything, and no reason to do it.

Animal studies used weight-adjusted doses (for example 50 micrograms per kilogram in the hippocampal BDNF work [3]) that are not directly transferable to a person, but they point the same way: single doses, sustained effects.

03Why a metered spray, not a dropper

A pump spray delivers a fixed volume every actuation. That means one spray per nostril is the same dose on day thirty as on day one, which is the whole point of a metered format. Droppers, pipettes and reconstituted vials, which most of the peptide market sells, depend on the user measuring correctly every time. Most people do not own a milligram scale and should not need one.

FOCUS-01 is a 10 mL bottle giving approximately forty metered sprays. At one spray per nostril that is about twenty days of daily use; at one spray total it is about forty. The active content per batch is stated on the certificate of analysis in the carton.

04When to take it

Nasal delivery reaches circulation within minutes, so the practical window is 20 to 30 minutes before you need to be sharp. In practice:

• Before the open. Traders and analysts tend to dose at the desk, around twenty minutes before the session. The desk protocol lays this out hour by hour.
• Before a deep-work block. Take it, make the coffee if you still want one, and start when the coffee is finished.
• Before study. Twenty minutes ahead of the reading, not after you notice your attention drifting.

Because there is no stimulant, late-afternoon dosing is less of a sleep problem than caffeine would be, but the effect lasts a long time, so a morning dose is the sensible default. Most people find they need it once, not twice.

05How long it takes to work, and how long it lasts

Onset is in minutes to tens of minutes. Users generally describe it as a gradual sharpening rather than a switch flipping. If you are expecting the kick of an energy drink, you will think nothing has happened; the change shows up in how long you stay on task and how the afternoon feels.

Duration in the human study was 20 to 24 hours for work efficiency measures after one dose [1]. That is why one dose a day is the standard and why a second dose is only worth considering on a very long day, within the four-sprays-a-day limit.

06Can you take it every day?

The study evidence is for single doses. Daily use in healthy adults over months has not been studied in a modern trial, so anyone who tells you it is proven safe long-term is overreaching. In Russia it is used in courses rather than indefinitely. A sensible approach is to use it on the days that matter and take breaks on the days that do not. That is also cheaper.

07Storage

Peptides degrade with heat and light. Keep FOCUS-01 in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight; a drawer is fine, a car dashboard is not. Refrigeration is not required for the sealed bottle but does no harm. Use within 60 days of opening. Prime the pump with two or three test sprays before the first use, and keep it out of reach of children.

08Who should not use it

Anyone under 18, anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, and anyone taking prescribed medication without first speaking to a doctor. Semax is not a licensed medicine in the UK and is not a treatment for any condition. Read the side effects and safety article before your first dose.
